Pierre Daureu

Partner – International Arbitration

Pierre DAUREU is the Founding Partner of Talex International. He focuses on complex cross-border disputes involving sovereign parties, including States, state-owned entities, and public authorities. The market consistently identifies Pierre as a key practitioner for high stakes matters involving sovereign actors, particularly across Africa and South America.

With more than 15 years of experience in over 80 arbitrations, Pierre acts both as counsel and arbitrator in international commercial and investment treaty disputes. He regularly represents multinational companies, investors, and sovereign entities in proceedings conducted under the rules of leading institutions, including ICC, ICSID, LCIA, and CCJA as well as in ad hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Pierre is widely recognised for handling sensitive disputes involving sovereign interests, including large-scale projects and complex contractual frameworks, matters relating to public concessions, infrastructure, energy, natural resources, and strategic investments. His practice reflects a modern and pragmatic approach to dispute resolution, combining arbitration advocacy with the strategic use of complementary mechanisms such as mediation and structured settlement negotiations, where these tools can most effectively advance his clients’ interests.

In addition to his counsel practice, Pierre is regularly appointed as arbitrator and is particularly valued for his ability to steer procedurally complex proceedings and navigate seamlessly across diverse legal traditions and multicultural environments.

Pierre is also deeply committed to strengthening the global practice of international dispute resolution through capacity-building initiatives. He regularly teaches in university programmes dedicated to international arbitration and dispute resolution and is a frequent speaker at leading international arbitration conferences. In addition, he is actively involved in initiatives supporting both public and private actors in developing their understanding and use of dispute resolution mechanisms, including the design and delivery of tailor-made training programmes for States and state entities aimed at enhancing their capacity to manage international disputes and arbitration proceedings.
